Pros and Cons Of Ruggable Rugs
Going back as far as the Middle Ages, Rugs have always been used to accentuate spaces. Persian carpets, for example, were traditionally hand-knotted and made from natural materials including wool and cotton; motifs such as floral designs, geometric patterns, and even figures of animals were created by artisans in a variety of styles.
It’s only recently that machine-made rugs have come into fashion. Machine washable rugs are also a new and attractive alternative to traditional rugs that have been gaining popularity.

Choosing My Ruggable Rug
I’m a gal that loves a clean home — from the floor to the ceiling, I like everything to be spik and span! And so when it came time to outfit my new apartment with a new rug, a machine-washable option sounded like a good idea to me.
I needed a rug for my small studio apartment, for both my living room space and my bedroom space, both relativity small areas.
I tend to like a minimalist and modern aesthetic. My apartment color scheme is also very neutral and very beige. Browsing the Ruggable indoor rugs, I quite fancied the Keith Haring Freestyle Pearl Rug and the Marble Golden Ivory Rug.
In the end, I decided on the latter for both my living room and bedroom.
Ordering and Delivery From Ruggable
Now something you should know that differentiates Ruggable from other home stores where you may browse and buy area rugs, is that Ruggable rugs are made to order.

Unless you get lucky, whereby they just happen to have the rug you want in stock, you will have to wait a little while for your Ruggable order to be processed and shipped. If you order multiple rugs, they also may not arrive together.
I made my Ruggable order on the 24 of March. The first of the two rugs I order arrived on April 2, a little over 1 week after ordering. The second rug was delivered to my home on April 8, about two weeks after ordering.
Unboxing Ruggable Rugs
The two rugs came in tall branded boxes that were light to carry and easy to unbox. Rolled separately in the box you’ll find the Rug and the rug pad together.
The actual rug is quite “flappy”. In other words, it’s very fabric-y and is as flowy as say a thick blanket, for example. The mattress pad is a rubbery material on the bottom side, and on the top side is a velcro-like texture that helps hold the rug cover in place.
Ruggable Review — First Impressions
Once unboxed, I went ahead and moved my furniture around so that I’d have room enough to roll out the rug completely and get it adhered to the rug mat properly. Once rolled out, you’ll find the rug or rug cover extends about 1 inch on each side over the rug pad so that you’re not able to see the rug cover whatsoever.
My first impression of my Ruggable rug is that it looks quite good. You can see that it’s well-made and has high-quality construction.
The design of the rug also looks the same as it did online, as do the colors. Furthermore, the colors coordinate really well with the decor of my apartment which I like.
I was expecting the rug to be a little plusher — it is quite flat (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing). If you want a rug that is as seamless with the floor as a rug can be, the standard Ruggable rug is definitely very low profile.
I’m not yet sure how I feel about that honestly, as I do love a nice “cushy” rug that your toes can just melt into. And while Ruggable does offer plush rugs like these that are thicker, softer, and higher-pile, I’m not quite sure if it would give the same feel and vibe as the traditional rugs I’m used to.
The problem, of course, with traditional rugs is that you can not as easily clean them and you certainly can not throw a regular rug into the washing machine. But as a single gal with no kids to spill their juices and no pets to have accidents, do I really actually need a machine-washable rug?
Don’t get me wrong, I really like the Ruggable rug I purchased. And I think it’s great for people who need that ability to easily clean. Do I love it, however? I can’t say confidently that I do. And for my home, I like to curate only items that I absolutely love and adore.
I honestly am reconsidering the necessity of going with a machine washable rug for my lifestyle (or perhaps I should consider one of the Ruggable plush options).
