How I started with OnlyFans.
I kinda started on OnlyFans by accident. When I started my Youtube channel to show off clothes and bikinis to women, as the algorythym would have it, my channel became really popular with men too. I quickly realized the opportunity was there to sell more exclusive content off of Youtube, and well, ran with it.

After starting off with Patreon and doing pretty well with that, it soon became apparent that with features like pay-per-view and tips, OnlyFans just seemed like the best place to achieve what I wanted to accomplish.
I wanted a place to sell exclusive content to my “fans” but had some really conflicting feelings about OnlyFans as a platform. The problem I had with OnlyFans initially was the stigma — that it was a platform for strictly adult content or that word that starts with a p and rhymes with corn.
The truth is, just like Patreon, Youtube, Instagram, Tik Tok, or literally any other social platform for content creators, it’s totally up to the creator what type of content you wish to post.
Sure, OnlyFans is kinda infamous as a “naughty” site. But there are actually a ton of creators on the platform that create and sell content in niches such as cooking, fitness — literally anything you can think of having nothing to do with “seggs”. If you can get past the stupid stigma and think outside the box, OnlyFans is such a freaking fabulous concept.
When I finally decided to start the journey of OnlyFans, I didn’t jump right in head first. I dipped my toes in took my time figuring out my OnlyFans strategy.
The first couple of months I struggled still with those conflicting feelings — FOMO, shame, anxiety… (I’ll save all that for another post), before finally coming to terms with how I could pursue this venture on OnlyFans in a way that I felt good about and make lots of money (duh).
I started to grow a loyal following and was able to generate more than a pretty penny through the platform. With a relatively new account and a small audience, I’m now in the top 1% of OnlyFans creators.
OnlyFans Signup Requirments
Before you start OnlyFans you may wonder what are the OnlyFans sign-up requirements you need to meet. With regards to OnlyFans requirements, dolls, they’re really pretty simple.
- Have a valid email address.
- Be 18 years old or a legal adult in your country.
- Have legit documentation such as a passport or driver’s license to prove your age and identity.
- Bank account to get paid.
With regards to how, what, and when you post content, there are no OnlyFans requirements to adhere to. That part is really up to you.
How To Start OnlyFans Successfully
If I were to start OnlyFans again as a beginner, there are definitely some things I wish I’d known to consider. I’d like to share them with you here. Read on…
1) Understand what you’re getting yourself into when you create OnlyFans.
OnlyFans is not an exclusively explicit adult site. But if we’re being totally honest here, the platform certainly has a very spicey reputation as such. Many of the most popular accounts on OnlyFans are adult performers, webcam models, and other “sex workers” of various kinds.
While you are in complete control of what you choose to create and share with the world, it’s important to remember that there is a potential for backlash from people who do not agree with the premise of the platform, regardless of what you may actually be posting.
With regards to creating adult or NSFW content on OnlyFans, even if you want to start an anonymous OnlyFans account (yes you can do that), this path is a decision one should seriously consider before embarking.
Let’s talk honestly here — starting an OnlyFans career and/or sharing explicit adult content online can open you up to potential harassment and trolling, as well as potentially affect your offline life in terms of job prospects, relationships, and friends for years to come. It’s not a decision to be taken lightly.
On the other hand, there are many successful OnlyFans creators who have found a way to use the platform in a healthy, positive way that has benefited them both financially and socially.
With that said, if you’re looking to start your own account on OnlyFans, even if you want to create OnlyFans anonymously or start OnlyFans without showing your face, you need to be fully aware and accepting of what you’re getting yourself into.
2) Set your personal boundaries.
Whether you choose to start an anonymous OnlyFans page or share your face and personal information with the world, it’s important to set boundaries around what kind of content you’re willing to create. I recommend doing this essential step before you even start OnlyFans, to begin with.
For example, some creators do not feel comfortable posting nude photos and videos on their OnlyFans pages. While others are more comfortable sharing explicit images and videos.
This predicament, however, can become a very slippery slope. You can start off with one mindset, and once you see the money rolling in, it’s tempting to lose sight of what you actually would feel good about sharing, money or not.
For that reason, I encourage anyone who wants to start OnlyFans successfully on all fronts (not just making lots of money), to consider setting strong boundaries for themselves before they start creating content.
Consider, how would you feel if your content got leaked? How would you feel if your family found out? How will I feel about this 10, 20, or 30 years from now?
Setting boundaries around your own privacy and consent is an essential part of using OnlyFans in a healthy way so that you can feel good about the content you’re creating and sharing on your account while you’re making that shmoney (even if you fail at it and your content is out on the web forever).
3) Create an OnlyFans account.
To create an account, visit this OnlyFans sign-up page to get started. Even if you want to start an anonymous OnlyFans page (where fans have no clue who you are and you don’t show your face), create your account using your real name, a real email address, and a secure password as this information is not made public.
You need to use your real name for tax and financial reasons, this information isn’t made public though. Also, make sure to use a valid email address that you will remember and retain access to.
4) Go through the “Become A Creator” verification process.
OnlyFans takes the verification of creators very seriously. So again, you’ll need to submit your real name, birthday, and information.
After you create your OnlyFans account here, you must go through a process that includes providing identification and other personal information to become an OnlyFans creator. This is done in order to ensure that only legitimate content creators are using the site and to protect both the creators and the fans who follow them.
A. Verify your email address.
Don’t for the sake of keeping your OnlyFans anonymous, get so creative that you forget the email address and/or the credentials to access your email account.
You’ll need to verify your email address before you can even start the verification to create OnlyFans account. If you lose access to your email, you will need to go through OnlyFans customer support to get this fixed, which can be a hassle.
B. Complete your OnlyFans account profile.
Once you have verified your email address, it’s time to fill out the basics of your new OnlyFans profile. This includes adding your avatar image, header image, and about me or bio information. Your avatar and header image should of course be an appealing image of yourself. Many creators use the bio section to describe a bit of what fans can expect by subscribing to your OnlyFans page.
C. Verify your age and country of residence.
You’ll then need to select your country of residence and confirm you are at least 18 years old and the age of majority in your place of residence. The age of majority is the threshold of adulthood as recognized or declared in law — in other words, you are a legal adult in your country.
D. Complete Biometric verification.
In order to complete the verification to start Onlyfans, you’ll need to perform an identity verification process. As part of this process, biometric data of your face and personal data from your government identity document will is captured through your camera and processed to authenticate. Although this sound a bit scary, it’s actually quite an easy process to complete.
Once you consent to the process, you’ll be asked to scan a QR code on your phone or enter your phone number to where you may be sent the direct link.
From there you’ll be asked to verify by photographing your Passport, Identify Card, or Driver’s License. Then you’ll need to, through the mobile site, take and submit a selfie right there and then (not one uploaded from your gallery).
The mobile site will quickly upload your data, encrypt your data, check your documents are legitimate, etc. Once this 3rd party verification within a few minutes is complete, you’ll be redirected back to OnlyFans where you’ll need to enter your information and upload your documents manually.
E. Complete miscellaneous verification steps.
In addition to your basic information such as your legal name, and address, OnlyFans also asks that you provide links to your social media profile for the purpose of further verification — this information will not be shown on your public profile. You can submit a Twitter, Instagram, or “other” social media profile.
Lastly, before sending to get your OnlyFans profile approved, you’ll need to upload a photo holding your ID (i.e. a selfie, ensuring your face is clearly visible) to serve as a release form.
5) Wait for your OnlyFans creator profile to be approved.
OnlyFans asks that you allow 24-48 hours for review and approval. This can actually take anywhere from 1 day to several days, depending on the volume of creators requesting approval at any given time. So if it’s taking a little longer than 1-2 days, be patient and don’t stress.
Once your profile is approved, you’ll be notified by email, and your account will become active for you to start posting content. If you are missing any information or OnlyFans needs anything additional to verify your account, you will be notified via email and be given the chance to resolve it.
6) Start your OnlyFans profile off looking legit.
Once your OnlyFans creator profile has been approved and activated, it’s finally time to start building out your OnlyFans page with content so that your page looks legit. You want when new fans to come to your page to have the perception that your page is popular, well-liked, and has lots of content for them to start consuming.
Secure your official username.
One negative aspect of OnlyFans is that there is no search feature on the platform. This makes securing a good user name that you can promote effectively all the more important. Your username should be simple, memorable, and easy to spell. A good user name also has the benefit of being able to be an effective and recognizable URL for your page.
Show some social proof.
I’d recommend you help boost your profile’s social status, so to speak, by uploading some preliminary content and getting some preliminary likes to show some social proof. While this isn’t absolutely necessary, having some initial likes on your profile will help boost your account in the eyes of new fans, so they feel excited about subscribing to it.
Hide your follower count.
Another tip is to hide your follower count, as it may make new fans feel less inclined to subscribe if they see that your following numbers are low. You can easily do this in the settings section of OnlyFans by removing a tick or two from the Show Followers option.
7) Set up your Onlyfans profile for success.
Once you start building your OnlyFans page, it’s off to the races. So before things start to get hot, you want to make sure your profile is optimized and set up for success with these little tricks.
Block where you’re from.
This of course is totally a personal decision but if privacy and starting OnlyFans safely is a concern, I would definitely encourage you to consider blocking your location on OnlyFans. If you live in the USA for example, you might consider booking your state. This will help to mitigate the chance of any friends or family accessing your profile and being in your business.
Create a welcome message for your fans.
A very cool automated feature that OnlyFans has is the ability to send out an automated welcome message for new fans. You can even include a free teaser photo or voice note or include a video that they can purchase straight away.
Add your Amazon Wishlist.
Another great feature that OnlyFans has is the ability to add your Amazon wishlist. This is a great way for fans who want to spoil you or show their appreciation and generosity with a token of support. You can add your username, your OnlyFans link, or add a message like “for your eyes only”. Whatever you want your watermark to say, you’ll want to get this set up before you actually start uploading any content so that it will be applied.
8) Set your subscription pricing.
One of the most important decisions that you’ll need to make with your OnlyFans account is how you want to set up pricing for your subscription. There are a few different options that you can choose from, and it’s up to you to decide what works best for your brand.
Some common pricing strategies include a free subscription for PG content and pay-per-view for the good stuff. You can also choose to charge a monthly subscription and post the good stuff to your feed (and still charge pay-per-view- as you see fit).
Ultimately, the pricing model that you choose will depend on your goals with your OnlyFans profile – do you want it to be a brand extension and promotional platform, or do you want it to be a place for fans to support your content on a more ongoing basis? Choose wisely!

Once you’ve set up your account and created your content, it’s time to start executing your OnlyFans strategy. Just like any influencer worth their salt, OnlyFans is a platform that requires solid strategy and execution to be successful.
Promote your OnlyFans.
The truth is that being successful on OnlyFans is large a numbers game as many of your fans won’t stay forever (or even past a few months). And so one of the most essential steps how to start OnlyFans and being successful is knowing how you will approach promotion and attract new fans consistently.
Some effective strategies for promotion might include sharing on Instagram, Youtube, Twitter, Reddit, and Tik Tok. You might also consider partnering with other influencers in your niche and cross-promoting each other’s accounts.
Post consistently.
Another important component of how to start OnlyFans is posting content consistently. This means that you need to post regularly, on a schedule that your fans can rely on.
This might mean sharing one new video or photo per day, or it might mean posting once every few days depending on what makes sense for your niche and audience. Either way, to achieve this in as stress-free a way as possible, I recommend knowing exactly what kinds of content you create and pre-shooting that content months in advance, and auto-scheduling it out.
Engage with your fans.
Finally, one of the most important components of your OnlyFans strategy is to engage with your fans. This means that you should respond to comments and messages, and take advantage of opportunities for engagement like polls and surveys. The more engaged you are with your fans on a regular basis, the more likely they will be to stay subscribed to your account and contribute to you financially.
10) Stay true to yourself.
Harking back to steps 1 and 2 on how to create an OnlyFans “the right way”, the most important thing of all when it comes to using OnlyFans is to stay true to yourself. You don’t need to try and fit into some kind of “OnlyFans mold”, or post content that you feel uncomfortable posting.
Just remember that whatever you decide to share on your OnlyFans profile, it should be something that you would be proud to show off publicly. If you stay true to yourself, you’ll find that the overall experience on OnlyFans can be enjoyable and rewarding.
