I can think of few better ways to spend an entire day than resting and relaxing jacuzzi side at the spa. For a dose of pampering, I paid a visit to one of the very best spas in the nation — Carillon Miami Spa at the Carillon Miami Wellness Resort.

As the only Spa located in South Florida to make the round-up among the best spas in the United States by Travel and Leisure Magazine 2021, I had to check out Carillon Miami Wellness Resort to see what all the fuss was all about. In this Carillon Miami Spa Review, I share my experience.

About Carillon Miami Wellness Resort

Situated in the heart of Miami Beach and just steps away from the turquoise waters of the Atlantic, Carillon Miami Wellness Resort boasts to be an oasis of calm and luxury.

World-renowned for its innovative and holistic approach to health and wellness, Carillon Miami is much more than just a spa. It’s a comprehensive wellness center that offers everything from transformative health retreats to non-traditional spa services such as its thermal hydrotherapy circuit, salt float bath therapy, and cryotherapies.

More about Carillon Miami Wellness Resort

Carillon Miami is an award-winning wellness resort located in beautiful Miami Beach. Carillon offers a unique spa experience that is based on the philosophy of “total wellbeing”. This means that they not only offer traditional spa treatments but also provide programs and services that promote overall health and wellness.

The resort is located on Miami Beach, which is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. With a 70,000 square-foot spa, fitness center, and salon, there is no shortage of luxury services and amenities at Carillon Miami.

The Thermal Hydrotherapy Circuit is one of the country’s most expansive. It includes 7 different Hydrotherapy experiences including a Herbal Laconium, Crystal Steam Room, and Experience Showers that feature settings such as Atlantic storm or Caribbean monsoon complete with simulated lightning and thunder.

One of the most unique experiences at Carillon Miami is the “Ascent” floatation tank. This state-of-the-art flotation therapy tank uses Epsom salt to help you float weightlessly in water that is warmed to your body’s natural temperature.

The spa also offers a variety of traditional treatments such as massages, facials, and body wraps. I had the pleasure of experiencing the “Carillon Glow” facial, which left my skin feeling hydrated and looking radiant.

My Booking Experience & Getting There

My booking experience for the Carillonwas very easy and straightforward. I was able to book my appointment online and chose the treatments that I wanted on the very same day.

Carillon Miami is located in the heart of Miami Beach, which is about a 15-minute drive from South Beach. There is plenty of street parking available, and the resort also offers valet parking for an additional fee.

I arrived at the spa about 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment time and was promptly checked in. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and they made me feel right at home.

First Impression

As you walk into the Carillon Miami, you are immediately enveloped in a feeling of relaxation. The Carillon Miami Spa is beautifully decorated and has a very tranquil vibe.

There are check-in desks straight ahead and a restaurant just to the right of the lobby. I was greeted by a friendly front desk receptionist who directed me to the left, to ride the elevator up to the spa on the fourth floor.

Once you get up to the spa, you’ll find a check-in counter for the spa where you’re greeted and checked in promptly. Before your treatment, you’ll need to take care of business— your credit card is charged, and typical of South Beach there is also a 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill.

You’re then escorted to the appropriate men’s or women’s dressing rooms where another staff member will take over and show you to your locker, where you may store your belongings for safe keeping.

After you’re all settled in, it’s time to head to the relaxation room and begin your spa journey!

My Spa Experience

The relaxation room, where I could lounge comfortably before and after my treatment is a beautiful, calming space with plenty of comfortable seating, soft lighting, and music playing in the background.

There are also refreshments available, such as water, Spa Girl canned cocktails, and trail mixes which was a nice touch.

After a few minutes in the relaxation room, I was called for my treatment: an aromatherapy massage.

Before the treatment begins, I choose from a selection of Rose, Lavender, or Geranium — I went with Geranium, a soothing and normalizing scent with a subtly sweet, floral scent associated with balance, purification, and cleanliness.

My aroma therapy treatment experience was enjoyable. The therapist was very professional and did an amazing job.

Although I enjoyed my massage, however, I had a petite female therapist and I wish I had opted for a male therapist instead. For a deep tissue massage, something is to be said for a man with much bigger hands and greater strength.

After my massage, I relaxed a bit in the relaxation room before heading to the wet and dry spa areas.

Thermal Hydrotherapy Circuit

If you enjoy an expansive sauna experience, you will love the Carillon’s Thermal Hydrotherapy Circuit. This circuit includes an infrared sauna, a eucalyptus steam room, an ice fountain, and an experience shower.

Centered around the vitality tub, a bubbling jacuzzi experience with water fountains and body jets provides gentle massage at the optimal temperature you will find 7 different experiences including Finnish Sauna and Crystal Steam Room.

Moving from one thermal suite to the next is designed to stimulate circulation, relieve pain, decrease stress, and rejuvenate the body. The Thermal Hydrotherapy Circuit is also open daily to all hotel guests and residents.

The meh — Crystal Steam Room

The steam room is usually my favorite in any wet spa area. The hot aromatic steam that is to fill the room with a large healing quartz crystal at its center of the room, however, was barely hot. Additionally, as the steam kept coming, it felt as if the room just wasn’t retaining either the heat or the steam.

I would say the same thing about the vitality tub, that for me, was just barely lukewarm.

The good — The Finnish Suana

My favorite of the experiences was perhaps the Finnish Spa, a classic sauna lined with fragrant wood for purifying your body and calming your mind. A traditional stove with hot stones emits dry heat for utter relaxation.

I also quite enjoyed the beach access which is included in my spa experience. You’ll just have to grab a wristband from the front desk before heading down the sand to grab a chair and umbrella.

Worth Mentioning

Although I didn’t get to give it a taste test, one of the highlights of the Carillon Miami experience is the food. The resort has its own organic farm, which supplies fresh produce to the restaurant. The menu features healthy, delicious dishes that are perfect for a post-treatment meal.

My Overall Carillon Miami Review

I enjoyed my Carillon Miami spa experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing day at the spa. I would also love to come back and experience the full spectrum of what the wellness resort has to offer.

Amount the transformative wellness experiences promoted here that I’d like to try next time include Sleep therapy, Cryotherapy, and A.V.A.C.E.N.— a microprocessor that manages the application of negative pressure and heat to dissipate pain and fade stress.

The Carillon Miami Spa also has 2 beautiful pool areas, one of which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean I’d love to enjoy.

Takeaway

If you’re looking for a truly unique spa experience, Carillon Miami Spa is the place for you. From the beautiful setting to the focus on total wellbeing, Carillon offers an experience that you won’t find anywhere else.
