A fabulous woman once said, “I like my money where I can see it — hanging in my closet”… As a lover of fashion, while I can certainly relate, as I mature in financial savvy, I like to see my money… well, in my bank account.

In the age where repeating an outfit (even once) on social media is oh so taboo, Fashion Pass is helping you to switch things up. The clothing rental subscription is making it easy and affordable for fashionistas to mix up their wardrobe as much as they like for one flat price.

But is Fashion Pass as good as it sounds? Is Fashion Pass legit? Is Fashion Pass worth the money? And lastly, how does Fashion Pass compare to Rent the Runway?

I recently decided to give Fashion Pass a try for some events I have coming up. In this Fashion Pass review, I’ll share my honest experience with this very cool and very convenient service.

What is Fashion Pass?

Fashion Pass is a clothing rental subscription service for women. They offer three different plans, tailored to your individual fashion needs.

Founder Brittany Johnson came up with the concept in college because she always wanted new outfits to wear to parties. She tried Rent the Runway and Le Tote, but after discovering that they didn’t quite offer styles to suit her, she started looking for alternatives that better aligned with her taste.

Fashion Pass vs Rent The Runway

Fashion Pass was created to be different from competitor Rent The Runway, for example, in that the focus is less on high-end brands and more on pricey fast fashion. Think more expensive than H&M or Forever 21, but less durable than designer pieces.

FashionPass carries in brands that have a beachy, music festival vibe such as Free People and For Love & Lemons. Think outfits Bachelor contestant would wear on a date  (several former contestants have served as brand ambassadors for the brand).

How does Fashion Pass work?

Once you sign up for Fashion Pass, you can choose from their large variety of clothing options and complete looks that they send directly to your front door for a monthly fee.

One of the best aspects of Fashion Pass is that you can try on as many styles as you’d like during your subscription. Additionally, you don’t have to worry about dry cleaning anything!

Fashion Pass Pricing & Plans

At the moment Fashion Pass offers three different plans to choose from. All of which offer an unlimited number of rentals. The difference between the plans offered is how many items (clothing and accessories included) you’re able to rent at one particular time. It’s also worth noting that although comparable, Fashion Pass is a little less expensive than rival Rent The Runway.

The basic plan “Socialite” is $79 per month and includes 2 clothing items and 1 accessory at a time.

The most popular plan “Trendsetter” is $109 per month and includes 3 clothing items and 2 accessories at a time.

The highest tier plan “Wanderlust” is $139 per month and includes 4 clothing items and 3 accessories at a time.

My Fashion Pass Experience

I decided to go with the Fashion Pass Trendsetter plan which allows you to have 3 clothing items and 2 accessories at a time. I filled out their short preference questionnaire, accepted their straightforward terms and conditions, and proceeded to make my first rental selections of outfits and accessories.

Here are some items that I snagged. Down below, I’ll conclude my overall thoughts and Fashion Pass review.

Fashion Pass Outfit #1

Firstly, I love dresses. I love dresses to go out and about. I love to wear dresses around the house. So it’s no surprise that my first selection was a dress. The bold colors of this Audie dress by the brand Salor are really eye-catching. I also love the feminine shape and material. It looks perfect for a flirty night on the town. A positive Fashion Pass review describes this dress as “extremely flattering”, so I’m excited to give it a go.

The dress in person looks just like the photo of the dress I ordered online. The material however was much lighter, in terms of weight than I expected.

Fashion Pass Outfit #2

This Josette Midi Dress by the brand Bec + Bridge was another eye-catcher that stopped me mid-scroll. The cutout trend is very popular right now and the thigh-high slit ads an extra bit of sex appeal. One Fashion Pass review describes this dress as fitting “like a dream”. The review continues that the thick fabric is of “great quality” and that it’s “sexy without being too much”.

When I posted this dress on my Instagram, it got lots and lots of compliments. Although I’m not too sure I love the under boob, this dress also looks just like the photos on the Fashion Pass website and did not disappoint in that regard. The material, as described in the Fashion Pass review is also really high quality, flattering, and cozy.

Fashion Pass Outfit #3

If it’s up to me I would shop exclusively for sexy evening outfits and party dresses as if I’m some sort of socialite. So to switch things up for the last Fashion Pass outfit, I decided to opt for an outfit that I could wear out and about during the day — perhaps for lunch or brunch on the weekend. While it is on the dressier, who says you can’t be a little bit dressier during the day for no particular reason at all?

This two-piece set looks just like the set pictured on the Fashion Pass website. I love the thick stretchy material — it’s stretchy while still feeling very comfortable to wear and move around in.

My Fashion Pass Accessories

For my 2 item Fashion Pass accessories allowance, I snagged the Ivory Linen Karter shoulder bag with black trim detail, described in one Fashion Pass review as getting so many compliments and looking very high-end.

I also got this pair of Gold embossed sunglasses from Banbé named The Eva. I love the neutral color and the shape is pretty as well.

Fashion Pass Review Verdict — Is Fashion Pass Legit?

The verdict is in, and yes, Fashion Pass is Legit. All of the items I received were as pictured and in pristine condition. The items smelled good, came with tags attached, and the delivery came very quickly.

I would say overall Fashion Pass is a good mid-tier clothing rental service. As described above, their selection isn’t in the luxury category as say, for example, Rent the Runway. But for the average girl, for the average wear, the quality Fashion Pass offers is just fine.

Fashion Pass styles are trendy, fit well, feel good, and the Fashion Pass subscription service is reasonably priced. I would recommend Fashion Pass to a friend and I would order from them again.
